Teachers

Throughout the year, LAUSD teachers and administrators are invited to participate in a variety of fun, educational professional developments and workshops that demonstrate ways to incorporate nutrition education and physical activity into the classroom.  Professional developments and workshops are created and presented by Network for a Healthy California—LAUSD (Network) staff.

Professional Development

MyPlate for Educators
Network schools can request a professional development that highlights MyPlate. This professional development reviews the basic messages of the MyPlate initiative and provides suggestions for linking nutrition education to California Content Standards. Participants will prepare simple recipes that are suitable for classroom tasting and sampling.

This professional development will be conducted by Network Nutrition Specialists and Teacher Advisors and will be approximately one-hour in length.

Complete the request form and return it to the Network as soon as possible. Availability is limited. Please do not schedule the workshop until you receive written confirmation from the Network. The Network will provide you with a confirmation if your school's professional development date has been accepted.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Lynn Uusitalo at (562) 654-9435.
