 
Walk to School Month
Every October, the Network and its partners join schools from around the world to celebrate International Walk to School Month. Millions of people participate in more than 40 countries as part of the annual initiative.
On one designated day during Walk to School Month, Network partners host events to promote health, safety, physical activity, and encourage students and their families to be physically active by walking to school. The energizing events remind everyone of the simple joy of walking to school, the health benefits of regular daily activity, and the need for safe places to walk and bike.
Please join the Network for a Healthy California—LAUSD in promoting Walk to School Day events throughout October 2010, International Walk to School Month. Choose any day in the month of October to help celebrate physical activity, traffic safety and community involvement.
The Network has created an electronic Walk to School resource kit to help support your Walk to School efforts. The resource kit includes nutrition information and materials that emphasize the important link between healthy eating and daily physical activity. These materials can be used in the classroom and provided to parents to help reinforce healthy behaviors at home. Please reproduce the resource kit materials and share with teachers, students and parents, as appropriate.
