Network Awards

The Network for a Healthy California (Network) offers several types of award funding. All award recipients receive educational and financial resources, technical support, and training.

Network Award: At schools that receive a Network Award, each eligible participant who signs the “Intent to Participate” form generates funds for the school. This funding can be used to purchase nutrition education resources, such as books, nutrition instructional materials, and paper goods for sampling and tasting activities. The funding can also be used for the purchase of contracted services, such as visiting farmers, chefs, muralists and theatrical performances to support the school’s nutrition education activities. This award includes the Harvest of the Month produce for each participant.

Nutrition Advisory Council Award (NAC): NAC Awards are intended for groups of students in grades 3-5 and in secondary schools. Funds from this award are used to empower students to plan activities that promote good nutrition and physical activity among their peers while learning leadership skills. Students learn about food policies and how to use their voice to effect changes in their community.

Nurse Award: School Nurses use this award to promote nutrition education within the learning community.

SMART Goals: All Network schools write SMART Goals for their nutrition education plan. SMART Goals are Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic and Timely. Click here for more information about SMART Goals.
