Theatrical Presentations

Theatrical presentations give fruits and vegetables center stage, leaving students hungry for an encore!

By incorporating nutrition education themes in an engaging play format, these presentations are a star attraction and leave powerful and lasting messages in children and adults alike.

The Network for a Healthy California—LAUSD contracts with theater companies to offer participating schools the opportunity to engage in and benefit from these unique performances.  This year, the Network will be working with Southland Opera.

Southland Opera: “Indy Joe and the Pyramid of Food” is a health, nutrition and physical fitness show using opera as the medium, geared for grades 3-6. The musical story features “Indy”gestion Joe on a quest to solve the mystery of the scrambled and ancient Pyramid of Food. With adventure, excitement, songs and laughter, this program teaches kids to stay fit and make the right food choices along the way.
